We live on two opposite ends of the sizing spectrum (see the photo evidence down below) and because of that, we both come across very different (but equally frustrating) fitting issues—high water jeans, maxi dresses that drag on the floor, awkward-looking corsets, all of it. Annabel: The chokehold the Gilmore Girls pilot episode has on me deserves to be studied. Even if I’m not in the mood for a full series rewatch (rare), popping on that first ep will always put me in the ideal fall mood. Therefore, Rory’s adorable Opening Episode Sweater™ has become a derivative obsession of mine.

Meg: Call me basic, but I also love anything that has to do with cozy oversize sweaters and Gilmore Girls. (Not exactly a fan of Rory when it comes to her love life decision-making, though, that’s a conversation for a different time.) So, you can understand why someone like me would freak out in excitement over a sweater that looks exactly like the one Rory wore in the pilot episode. If you’re a fellow GG fan, you know what I’m talking about…

Meg: At 27 years old, I stand at 4'11"—and while my average middle schooler height does allow me to pay for discounted clothing and shoes because, ya know, kids’ section, it also kind of sucks. Finding mature pieces can be an impossible feat—especially things like cute, baggy sweaters. When it comes to baggy sweaters, I have to be pretty specific when I’m shopping for one. I want something that’s the perfect amount of loose but doesn’t absolutely eat me up, both length and width-wise. And also some sleeves that are perfectly slouchy!

Annabel: And for me—someone with a slightly longer wingspan—finding sweaters that give me that baggy, fully enveloped look has been a struggle. Most sweater sleeves hit just above my wrist, and that's not the look I want. It’s haunted me throughout my *many* years of GG binges (the exact number shall remain redacted due to slight shame). But I happened upon this piece from Aelfric Eden on TikTok earlier this month, because the FYP streets were literally dubbing it the official “Rory Gilmore” sweater. Consider my attention caught. But would I get the same small-town Connecticut wunderkind look? And is its sizing also friendly for the girls that land on the shorter end of the arm-length spectrum? Let’s put it to the test:

Annabel's Take:

Pro: It's the lack of itch for me. Call me crazy, but a scratchy pullover will overstimulate me to no end—I simply do not possess the mental faculties to go about my day with a goddamn itchy sweater on. Aelfric Eden's piece is *super* soft.

Con: My main con isn't necessarily negative, but I should note that this sweater is a real insulator. It'll keep you warm during the winter months, but on a day with just a light chill, you might want to make this your only layer. I wore this bad boy out on a sunny mid-60-degree day and I did feel a bit clammy.

Meg's Take:

Pro: The fact that the arms weren’t too long or loose for my 4'11" build is what really impressed me. Sure, I’m usually a size XS/S, but so are people a foot taller than me. More often than not, I struggle finding sweaters that don’t look like flappy wings on my body. This Aelfric Eden really works for me!

Con: It was a little too long for my liking because I do prefer cropped styles. I honestly could’ve worn it as a sweater dress if I really wanted to! Or, if something is oversized, I would like more width than length. (I am also fully aware that I’m the average size of a middle schooler, lol). And as someone who identifies as a big-time Sweaty Girl, it felt a lil stuffy. Though, that just proves how warm it’ll keep ya!
