Fincher's Latest Receives Five Minute Standing Ovation During Its Venice Premiere

The Venice Film Festival is well underway, and over the weekend, David Fincher's latest, The Killer, had its premiere.

Starring Michael Fassbender, Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton, The Killer follows an assassin who, after a fateful near-miss, battles his employers and himself on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal.

The critics seemed to love it, rating it 82% on Rotten Tomatoes from 17 reviews where it was called "John Wick on steroids" and applauded for being "no-nonsense entertainment from start to finish".

Critics weren't the only ones with praise, however, as the film also received a five-minute standing ovation from the crowd during its premiere.

In a video from Variety's co-editor-in-chief, Ramin Setoodeh, Fincher can be seen seemingly confused and humbled by the spectacle.

The Killer will be in select theaters and on Netflix November 10.
