I Finally Splurged on the Flattering Denim Shorts Taylor Swift Repeat-Wears

I regret not buying them sooner.

A few summers ago, my super-hip West Coast bestie came to visit and was living in a pair of chic denim cutoffs. “They’re from Agolde,” she said in her cool-girl-in-the-know tone. At the time, I was loyal to my pair of Levi’s 501s ordered off Amazon for about $40. Recently I decided to splurge on the same pair my friend had, considering that I basically live in jean shorts during the summer months, and now I am regretting not doing so sooner.

ICYMI, Taylor Swift is a huge fan of Agolde’s denim — she’s been spotted in the brand’s shorts numerous times over the years. In fact, she’s already worn them twice (as far as we know) this year, and has also sported full-length jeans from the brand. Tons of other celebs wear the brand, too, including Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, and Chrissy Teigen.

There are a few different versions (23, to be exact, according to the brand’s website) of the Agolde Parker shorts, as they come in various lengths and washes with different detailings (frayed edges, rolled, and finished hems included). I opted for the OG, shorter version with frayed hem. All are designed out of the brand’s signature 100 percent “regenerative cotton,” a stiffer denim that holds shape wash after wash. There is zero stretch.

The shorts, which have a 90s inspired high waist and are loose-fitting in the leg and backside, simply fits better than any cutoffs I have worn. While roomy enough in the leg, they manage to oh-so-subtly cradle your butt cheeks without resulting in a wedgie, which has been my experience with some other jean shorts. They are also just long enough that your behind doesn’t hang out. The result is a near-universal flattering fit. Other details include a button fly closure and five pockets.

During a recent vacation in Miami, I wore them to the beach with my bikinis, and even out to dinner with a cute top and heels. Despite the fact that there is zero stretch, the fit is incredibly comfortable as the waist hits mid-belly. In terms of sizing, if you want a more fitted look, size down. If you like a looser fit, stick with your usual size. (Most customers agree that they run true-to-size.)

I will note that closer to summer, these shorts do tend to start selling out, so if there is a particular style and size you have your eyes on, I suggest ordering ASAP. Below, shop more versions of the Agolde shorts, plus the Stella version that Taylor Swift has worn.
