I Finally Found the Best Sheets for People Who Sweat

These are the best sheets to put on your bed for summer because they're lightweight and silky, so even night sweaters will stay cool.

These lightweight, breathable bed sheets are a summer essential.

This year, I've been on a quest to find the best sheets for summer. After testing out these eucalyptus sheets that felt just like the cool side of the pillow, I recently discovered the best sheets for those who sweat. And while I can't promise that these will do the trick for those who have a medical diagnosis for night sweats, if you occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat after a nightmare or because you forgot to turn on the fan before bed, these lightweight, breathable sheets are the solution.

When I first opened up the package of Allswell percale sheets, they felt silky to the touch and surprisingly thin. While "thin" isn't typically a quality I'd look for in a set of sheets—especially an investment set that costs $160—after testing them out, I realized that this was the one quality my other bed sheets were lacking. Thin sheets may give the impression that they're flimsy or won't wear well, but this set has proven itself to be lightweight and airy, yet surprisingly durable. I've been using them now for three weeks, even during some of the hottest nights of the summer, and the cooling material is the perfect cover for those sweltering nights when I would otherwise throw all of my bedding onto the floor. Yet after several washes, the sheets are just as crisp and fresh-looking as the day I pulled them out of the package.

The secret to these sheets' cooling properties lies in their blend of materials: 36 percent cotton keeps them breathable, while 64 percent Lyocell/Tencel makes them durable and cool to the touch. Before trying these sheets, I always assumed that 100-percent cotton, or even better, 100-percent linen, was the key to the most cooling summer bed, but as it turns out, this magic blend is the solution to summer night sweats. In the past three weeks, even on the warmest nights of July, I haven't woken up in a puddle of sweat once. And as someone who admittedly sweats a lot (you can read more about that here), that's really saying something.

If you, too, are a summertime night sweater, do yourself a favor and splurge on some lightweight, cooling bed sheets. Sure, they're an investment, but hey, they're still a whole lot cheaper than installing central AC.
