There’s good news and bad news when it comes to Last Man Standing season 9. It’s usually better to get the worst part out of the way first, so here it goes: Last Man Standing is officially ending.

That’s right, the family comedy starring Tim Allen and Nancy Travis is going off the air—for good. This time, though, the cast seems to have made their peace with the situation. (Many will remember its controversial cancellation back on ABC. That was rough!)

“I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work,” Tim said. “I’m looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.”

So what’s the good news, you ask? The show will be back very, very soon. Take a look at what’s in store for the remaining episodes below.

First off, when is “Last Man Standing” coming back to TV?

The final season of Last Man Standing will premiere on Sunday, January 3 at 8:30 p.m. on Fox. That sounds like a great way to fend of the Sunday scaries!

What can we expect?

A major change that might surprise viewers is that there will be a time jump when Last Man Standing returns. According to TVLine, it’s not picking up exactly where it left off, even though season 8 was cut short due to the pandemic.

When we see the Baxters again, Kristin (Amanda Fuller) will have welcomed the baby, Mandy (Molly McCook) will be further along in her pregnancy, and Mike and Vanessa will be contemplating next steps. For Mike, that means retirement…and choosing a successor. 😨

Are there any cast changes?

It seems like everyone is coming back! The only exception could be Eve (Kaitlyn Dever). She’s been on less and less over the past year due to the actress’s busy schedule, but surely she’ll make at least one appearance before the series is gone for good.

It’s sad to say goodbye, but the Baxters have had a hilarious run. Let’s hope the ending does it justice!
