If you’ve binge-watched the first two seasons of Netflix’s Lupin (...guilty), then Omar Sy needs no introduction. He plays the quick-witted yet charming thief Assane Diop, who sets out to avenge his father’s death. But now, fans get to see the French actor show off his comedy chops in The Takedown, where he switches sides and plays a police officer.

Following its release, the comedy film claimed the top spot on Netflix as the most viewed non-English movie with 32.37 million hours viewed in a week. It climbed to the number one spot of the Netflix top 10 list in 91 countries.

The streaming service stated the film surpassed Spanish comedies, Perfect Family (21.59M hours viewed) and Honeymoon With My Mother (6.45M hours viewed), as well as the Indian-Hindi language western action thriller, Thar (4.27M hours viewed).

In case you didn’t know, The Takedown serves as a sequel to 2012’s On the Other Side of the Tracks. This time around, Ousmane Diakité (Sy) and François Monge (Laurent Lafitte) are back for another big case. The police officers are complete opposites, even down to their work style. However, the unlikely duo must work together to solve the mystery.

The talented ensemble cast includes Izïa Higelin (Alice Gautier), Marie-Christine Adam (Madame Monge), Dimitri Storoge (Antonie Brunner) and Flavie Péan (Madame Brunner).
