If you can get in that headspace for a bit, it helps to remember that the online forms, the waitlists, the scrambling to get just the right spot in just the right week – these can be (but aren’t exclusively) the building blocks of summer memories. That day camp where your kid finds out they love to draw or that overnight camp where they meet the friend that will become the college roommate and the member of the wedding party, those things are all happening right now. No pressure, right?

Like everything in parenting, it does matter but not so much as we think when we forget the registration date or find out that the week they wanted is just not in the budget this year. Breathe, click through the list, do what works for your family in this season. And be sure to fill that childhood memory scrapbook with summer reading, bare feet in the green grass, popsicle covered chins and the small things that turn out to be pretty big after all.
