Fiji Airways New Pricing Model May Make It Cheaper to Fly to Paradise — What to Know
The flexible model comes after Fiji dropped all of its COVID-19 protocols.
For travelers looking to explore the more than 300 islands of Fiji, the journey just got a little easier, and potentially cheaper.
Beginning March 3, Fiji Airways will roll-out new "unbundled" airfares as part of their new “Fly Your Way” program. The different fare tiers include Lite, Value, Comfort, and Plus. Each tier has a variety of options (such as ‘Lite’ only includes 1 carry-on bag, where ‘Plus’ includes two checked bags, and Priority Boarding + Baggage). The “unbundling” is similar to what many United States domestic carriers have rolled out under the name of “Basic Economy.”

Tickets purchased prior to March 3 will be categorized as Value.
“Our customers have various needs when they travel whether for business or leisure, and with this new concept, we give them the ability to choose the product that best suits them.” said Andre Viljoen, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for Fiji Airways in a statement.
Fiji Airways is currently advertising flights from Los Angeles to Fiji for $899 roundtrip.
Earlier this month, Fiji dropped all remaining COVID-19 restrictions, according to its tourism board. Travelers arriving from the United States will no longer have to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and travel insurance.
Fiji has already seen a rise in visitors for 2023. The tourism department has shared that there was an 11% increase in travelers from North America in January, and the average room rate for the month was $481. The government of Fiji previously shared that the country welcomed over 894,389 travelers in 2019.
