Fifth Harmony gives fans one last gift: A farewell music video

Fifth Harmony has officially begun an indefinite hiatus, but the group wouldn’t go away without leaving fans with a special remembrance.

The four members — Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui — gave their followers one last present on Friday: a new, unexpected music video for their song “Don’t Say You Love Me.”

The video lands one week after the women played their final show on May 11 in Hollywood, Fla. They announced in March they all planned to take a break from the group to pursue solo careers. (Fifth member Camila Cabello had already exited in 2016. She is currently opening for Taylor Swift for her “Reputation” tour.)

“Thank you for an incredible journey,” the group said to fans on social media, along with a teaser clip of the video. Clicking through to the full production, above, fans can watch the four singers give an emotional performance before embracing for the last time and walking out a door … which, in a bit of perhaps planned symbolism, in the last image shown, is left open a crack.

Of course, the video elicits strong emotions among fans, as well as fueled hopes that the beloved girl group does indeed have plans to reconvene after taking their respective hiatuses.

Social media being how it is, however, there was a bit of skepticism regarding the group’s choice to release the video the same day Cabello showed up on a new single by Pharrell.

Cabello is expected to perform “Sangria Wine” with Pharrell at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.
