The Fidget Spinners and Toys Are Seriously Soothing for Your Kids

My son would be absolutely lost without his fidget toys, and frankly, so would I. We both have ADHD, and he's also autistic. For us, fidget toys keep our bodies occupied so that our brains can work. According to one report in Scientific American, there is evidence to support that it's not just people like me or my son who are benefitting from these toys. They can help soothe anxiety, relax hyper behaviors, and generally help us all chill out.

And honestly? We in the community have been using our own types of soothing devices for long before spinners hit the market, but only recently have they taken off. Think of the person you know who clicks their pen over and over, or bounces on their seat. Think of ways you might doodle during a meeting, or ball up the napkins in front of you. Many of us have made our own adaptive devices in spontaneous situations. Fidget toys make life a lot easier.

Today, pop-it toys, spinners, and fidget blocks are a huge business. You literally can't walk buy a toy store without seeing row after row of rainbow-colored pop-its or infinity cubes.

And you know? They're a heck of a lot quieter than a pen click, right?
