So Fetch! Busy Philipps Cast as Regina George’s Mom in ‘Mean Girls’ Movie Musical

This news is so fetch! Busy Philipps, 43, will play Mrs. George (AKA Regina George's mom) in the Mean Girls movie musical.
The Cougar Town alum shared the exciting news to her Instagram page. Philipps posted a screenshot of a Deadline article breaking the casting announcement, as well as a first look at her transformation into Mrs. George. “You know something? I really never have been a regular mom…#meangirls,” Philipps wrote in her caption. (You can see the first look here.)

In the post, Philipps is rocking Mrs. George's signature blonde locks and wearing the iconic pink velour tracksuit that the character (originated by Amy Poehler) wears in the 2004 film.
Philipps revealed on Instagram that she had to go through a little makeover before filming for the role, which involved bleaching her hair. She shared an image to her IG Story, where she said, “Mrs. George has to be BLONDEEEE.” The photo also featured New York City-based hair colorist Lena Ott.

Mean Girls is a 2004 comedy written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters. The original cast included Fey, Poehler, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried.
The film was a runaway success, grossing over $130 million at the box office and receiving positive reviews from critics. Due to its popularity, the movie was adapted into a Broadway musical, and now, the musical is getting its own film adaptation.
Other cast members include Angourie Rice (Cady), Reneé Rapp (Regina), Auli’i Cravalho (Janis), Jaquel Spivey (Damian), Avantika Vandanapu (Karen), Christopher Briney (Aaron) and Bebe Wood (Gretchen). Meanwhile, The Office's Jenna Fischer will play Cady's mom, Mrs. Heron. Tina Fey is returning as screenwriter (and in her role as Ms. Norbury), while Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne will direct the film.
