After an incredible show on Saturday morning in Milan, where Paul Andrew debuted as creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo, it was time to celebrate the new path the Italian brand is taking.

What was crystal clear to everybody who saw the collection were the currents of inclusivity and positivity that ran through it, with men’s and women’s looks reflecting each other. Andrew and Guillaume Meilland, men’s ready-to-wear designer director, presented womenswear and menswear collections in perfect harmony at the Rotonda della Besana, a much-needed new location after 12 years in the dark Palazzo Mezzanotte.

And if we are talking about inclusivity, it is no surprise that one of the guests attending both the show and the family dinner at Giacomo Bistrot was Sinéad Burke, famous for her memorable speech on inclusivity at the World Economic Forum in January. Beloved by the local Milanese, Giacomo Bistrot is where you go when you have something important to celebrate; it’s where you want to have a romantic night and where families gather together for special occasions. It also, somehow, feels like home (a wonderful one!), with cozy lighting, wood bookshelves surrounding tables, oil paintings on the walls, and Italian home cooking at its finest. Quite a savvy choice for Ferragamo! It seemed that the restaurant’s reputation had already reached several guests, as many expressed excitement over dining at one of the best eateries in Milan. The most popular dish? Without a doubt, cacio e pepe.

It really felt like a family dinner with the group of people who gathered to celebrate Ferragamo’s success. “I haven’t done anything; the merit is all theirs, of the team,” Micaela le Divelec Lemmi, CEO of the company, responded when receiving praise about the collection. Indeed, she chose them, and picking the right people suited for a job is the best place to start.

In attendance, along with Andrew and James Ferragamo, were members of Netflix’s Stranger Things cast: Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Abigail Cowen was also there, along with Ferragamo’s very young and talented model, Cara Taylor (accompanied by her mother, as she’s only 17), Gabriella Wilde, Lottie Moss, Lady Amelia Windsor, Suki Waterhouse, and supermodel Alek Wek, adviser to the U.S. Committee for Refugees Advisory Council. Most of the international crowd was in town for just a couple days, but it’s likely that everyone departed the dinner feeling like they were not really that far from home.
