Fenty Beauty Body Lava Dupe From The Body Shop

Seeing is believing.

From Pro Filt'r to Killawatt, Fenty Beauty has proved several times over that they're a beauty game-changer. (Just look at their forthcoming Beach, Please summer collection for proof.) However, you don't need us to tell you that Fenty Beauty Body Lava isn't exactly what we would call "affordable." In fact, the $59 price tag has inspired people to create dupes of their own, including one at-home concoction of body oil and shimmer powder.

As much as we love a beauty bargain, the truth is that sometimes we simply don't want to go the DIY route. To that, we present the latest Body Lava dupe to hit our Instagram feeds: The Body Shop's Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil. As seen on lifestyle site The Thicc's Instagram Story, the $17 body oil infused with honey, avocado oil, and mica pigments is being called a close match to the Brown Sugar Body Lava shade. And just by looking at both bottles, we have to say admit that they just might be onto something. And while Body Lava is gel-based and has a moderately heavy texture, The Body Shop's oil has a thinner consistency. However, both appear to impart a bronzed, goddess-like glow.

Shimmery body oils aren't anything new — anyone who grew up in the '90s or early '00s likely has a personal anecdote relating to the product. But recently, they seem to be making a comeback; in addition to The Body Shop's formula, San Diego-based brand Kopari makes a Coconut Body Glow that's one of their bestselling products, and French pharmacy brand Nuxe has a bronzed version of their $36 Huile Prodigieuse.

As for whether any of these hold a candle to the real deal? Stay tuned...
