Feng Chen Wang Teases New 3D Molded Sole, Converse Collab at Fall 2024 Show

Feng Chen Wang took her collaboration with Converse to the next level at her fall/winter 2024 runway presentation in Paris on Thursday.

During Thursday’s show, the Chinese-born and London-based menswear designer known for her bold conceptual designs, showed her upcoming Chuck 70 2-in-1 Low sneaker that was first teased earlier this month.

According to Wang, a frequent Converse and Ugg collaborator, “the bold concept converges form and style in a singular approach.” Similar to her previous interpretation of Converse’s design, the silhouette is “crafted with ‘two’ in mind.”

The style, which retails for $182 and officially launches on Feb. 6, is now available as a “seen on the runway” offering for a limited period at fengchenwang.com.

Aside from the Chuck 70 2-in-1 runway moment, Wang debuted a new removable molded sole that can be added to the upcoming Converse style. Called the “Chahu,” the 3D molded sole is inspired by the shape of a deformed teapot with irregular edges and curved three-dimensionally, according to Wang. The sole comes in black, brown and white colorways and retails for $382. It’s now available for preorder and takes about eight weeks to ship, according to Wang’s site.

As for the rest of Wang’s fall/winter 2024 collection, the designer said in her show notes that this season transforms tea culture into a design language, demonstrating respect for nature and traditional culture while conveying independent thinking on contemporary values.

“Autumn-Winter ‘24 is a journey from a physical world to something more spiritual, tea is deeply rooted in my culture and has been for centuries, something so precious to me,” Wang wrote. “It has been a pleasure for me to share this with you through my collection – extending an invitation for you to join me for tea.”
