Fendi Haute Couture Spring 2024 Puts the Focus on Practicality, Not Pageantry

"There's a humanism at the heart of this future," Artistic Director Kim Jones wrote of Fendi's Spring 2024 Haute Couture collection, in the show notes. His latest for the Italian fashion house is a lesson on simplicity, focused on the dialogue between fabric and body.

The collection opens with an array of straightforward, minimally-embellished silhouettes, predominantly in black — midriff-baring halterneck tops with figure-hugging column skirts, sheer gauzy maxis, sleeveless vests and matching trousers. It then progresses to slightly more ornate garments with lighter hues, building up to a series of silver metallic looks that are impressive, but not costume-y. The theme remains consistent: eschewing pageantry and centering craft and practicality.

"The Fendi approach to the person wearing couture is to reaffirm their humanity; they're always 'someone' rather than 'something,'" the show notes read.
