Fayetteville Dogwood Festival returns this weekend: Here's what you should eat and drink

The Dogwood Festival is returning to downtown Fayetteville and Festival Park for its 42nd year this weekend. Beginning Friday night, the three-day event features concerts, carnival rides, craft vendors and activities for kids.

With all the excitement, festivalgoers are bound to get hungry. About 20 food trucks and concession stands from all over the region will offer a variety of food and drink, from corn dogs and curly fries to tacos and pita sandwiches.

With so much to choose from, it’s easy to miss your favorites. Here’s a guide to the food at the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival.

Food trucks at the Dogwood Festival

Anita's Authentic Mexican Street Food, a Greenville food truck, offers tacos, burritos, tortas, tostadas, quesadillas, gorditas and agua frescas.

Party in a Pita serves Mediterranean food like gyros, shawarma and falafel. The Raleigh food truck also offers stuffed grape leaves, tabouli salad and hummus and baba ghanoush plates starting at $5. 

Big Erv BBQ & 910 Sweets serves pulled pork and turkey, grilled wings, brisket and ribs with sides like macaroni and cheese, baked beans and fries. The Fayetteville food truck also offers sweets like banana pudding and cupcakes. 

Mike Nice Empanadas, a Latin food truck based in Knightsdale, specializes in empanadas. The fried pastries are filled with a choice of beef, chicken or cheese; or choose from fillings inspired by Birria tacos, buffalo chicken, or Philadelphia cheesesteaks.

Off The Hook Seafood & Chicken, a Greensboro food truck, offers fried shrimp, fried whiting, wings and chicken tenders. The truck also serves Italian ice and funnel cake.

N.C. Ribs on Wheels, a barbecue food truck based in Woodbridge, Virginia, offers smoked ribs, brisket, turkey legs, pulled pork sandwiches, nachos and macaroni and cheese.

Drinks at the Dogwood Festival

Moose Joose Slush, a food trailer based in Charlotte, serves frozen slushy drinks with half-price refills. Customers can build their own slushy with flavors like blue raspberry, cherry, Cheerwine, sour apple and pina colada.

Lemon Love, based in Fayetteville, serves lemonade and limeade in fruity flavors like peach, pineapple, mango, strawberry and blueberry-mint.

Bayou Billy Sweet Dixie Tea of the Carolinas, a food vendor based in Salisbury, will serve sweet tea on tap in its signature tin mugs. 

Concession stands at the Dogwood Festival

D&J Concessions, a Raleigh food vendor, serves fair foods like corn dogs, turkey legs and sausage. The concessions stand also has desserts like soft-serve ice cream, funnel cakes and fried Oreos.

Tropical Island Concessions, a Raleigh food vendor, serves fried foods like blooming onions, corn dogs and funnel cakes, as well as sausages, steak and cheese sandwiches, burgers and fries.

MacBrand Foods, based in Richmond, Virginia, is a concession stand offering chicken tender baskets, Philly cheesesteaks, Italian sausage sandwiches, corn dogs, blooming onions, funnel cakes and lemonade.

Martins Concessions, a Roseboro food truck, offers funnel cakes, nachos, chicken nuggets, chocolate-covered cheesecake, hot dogs and cheeseburgers.

Crabdaddy's, a concession stand based in Afton, Virginia, serves crabcake sandwiches, shrimp on a stick, fries, crab wraps, lemonade and iced tea.

Shuckers, a Winston-Salem concession stand, offers kettle corn, specialty lemonades and sweet tea.

Asian Grill & Rice Concession, based in Eustis, Florida, offers teriyaki chicken on a stick and stir-fried rice or noodles.

2Sisters Foods, a concession stand from Salisbury, offers curly fries, sweet potato fries, hand-dipped corn dogs, London broil steak sandwiches, portabella mushroom pitas, chicken fingers and lemonade.
