My Favorite Summer Styles From Target Are All Under $50 — but You’d Never Guess It

I’ve been bitten by the shopping bug. Yes, I write about shopping for a living, but the funny thing is, I don’t really buy all that much for myself. But since last month, I haven’t been able to put my credit card down. Maybe it’s because I haven’t splurged in a while, or maybe it’s because I’m actually excited to get dressed and go out again, but whatever the reason, I’m 100 percent okay with it.
Over the weekend, I was on Target’s website. I set an alarm for 1:50 a.m. CT, 10 minutes before its highly anticipated designer dress collection dropped, and while I slept through it (sad face), I woke up the next morning and was still able to snag the dresses I had my eye on (see: this one and this one.) But I didn’t stop there. You know how sometimes, you go to Target with a short list of things you need, but then leave with 15 other items that weren’t even remotely on your mind before? That’s what happened to me.

I couldn’t help but browse through the rest of Target’s clothing section, which is how I wound up with a cart full of shoes, dresses, bags, and T-shirts. Some trendier pieces, like this floral dress and these distressed jeans, made the list, but I’m also a sucker for classics, so when presented with the opportunity to snag a crisp white tank top and a tube top for just $5 a pop (yes, $5), I’m taking it.

I see a lot of clothes in a single day, but I have to say that Target’s offering hits it out of the park for two reasons. First of all, it has so many of-the-moment pieces, like smocked tube tops, chunky sneakers, and denim Bermuda shorts that are going to be everywhere this season, along with bold staples that will never go out of style (looking at you, orange puff-sleeve dress). Secondly, the prices are unbeatable. A reasonable $5 for a tank top, $20 for denim shorts, and $30 for cool thong sandals? You get so much bang for your buck. The total for the 15 things I’m eyeing is $364, which averages to $24 apiece.
