Our Favorite Hair and Makeup Looks at the 2021 Grammys

With the Grammys 2021 taking place during the pandemic for the first time, several parts of the music award show are bound to look a little different, including, but not limited to, the hair and makeup.

Although Trevor Noah will be hosting from the Grammys from Los Angeles, some of our favorite musicians are taking the stage from around the world for their performances tonight — we're looking at you in Seoul, BTS. We're definitely looking forward to the glitz and glam the K-pop group, as well as Cardi B, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish, will be bringing to music's big night. Our eyes are also peeled for what presenters Lizzo and Jhené Aiko are bringing to our screens.

Without having to deal with the bright lights of the red carpet, they are sure to deliver even more extravagant, innovative looks than ever before — or some may take it easy and go with a relaxed, no-makeup makeup aesthetic if they are accepting their award from the comfort of their home. While we wait for everyone's arrivals (or should we say, look reveals via social media), here are the beauty moments impressing us big time in the meantime.

Cardi B took the stage in an incredible bubblegum-pink bob styled into a deep side part by none other than Tokyo Stylez. Glittery rosy shadows, including Rose Gold 005 from Pat McGrath Labs' Mothership V: Bronze Seduction Palette, were blended onto her lids by makeup artist Erika La' Pearl. Paired with her metallic, futuristic two-piece, we're surely going to remember this look for years to come.

You may want to zoom in on this look from Lizzo. The true glitz of it is subtle. Her hair was sprinkled with silver glitter by hairstylist Shelby Swain to unexpectedly tie together all the metallic details of her ensemble. Now, look closely at her lashes. Would you believe us if we told you they're $8 falsies? Makeup artist Alexx Mayo adhered the Kiss Lash Couture Matte Black Faux Mink Lashes in Matte Sheer for the night.

With his performance hairstyle, rapper Bad Bunny put the bun in his stage name in a way we never expected. He tied up his curly hair into three little poofs, and we can't help but be into the look.

Billie Eilish

As usual, it's all about the nails for Billie Eilish's Grammys look. This year, her ultra-long, petal-pink tips echoed the floral tapestry print on her fingerless gloves, mask, bucket hat, and outfit. The rest of her Grammys 2021 beauty moment stuck to the staples: slime green-rooted hair and minimalist makeup.

Chika

Rapper Chika brought wore a ruffled mask on the red carpet with fun eye makeup to go with it. Her left temple was decorated with gems while her lids were blanketed in shimmery teal.

Dua Lipa

Cher vibes were strong for Dua Lipa's red carpet moment. Maybe it was the sleek, straight hair; maybe it was the twinkling lilac eye shadow to mimic the gems on her dress — whatever you want to attribute it to, she looked undeniably flawless.

Doja Cat

The ever-versatile Doja Cat went rocker chic for the night with a soft-serve mullet, dramatic, darker-than-a-blackhole smoky eyes, and angular brows to go along with her plunging motorcycle jacket dress by Roberto Cavalli. Makeup artist Ernesto Casillas and hairstylist Jared Henderson truly outdid themselves.

Phoebe Bridgers

With her gorgeous gray-blonde hair and oxblood lipstick, flushed cheeks added a playful, light touch to Phoebe Bridgers' edgy, skeleton look.

Although the new faces of Neutrogena aren't in the same country at the moment (Halle is filming in London), Chloe x Halle still coordinated their gold-and-black looks. Halle's take included a headscarf that matched her gown and mod cat-eyes. Chloe, on the other hand, went with more sculptural hair complete with carefully crafted edges, Bantu knots, and curls. For makeup, her lids were adorned with silver-accented smoky eyes, and her lips were painted with a raspberry-red hue.

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion looked like she's about to star in her version of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (perhaps titled Gentleman Prefer Hotties?) with her bold-yet-elegant strapless tangerine gown, glamourous tendrilled bouffant courtesy of hairstylist Kellon Deryck, and soft glam makeup. Priscilla Ono, Meg's go-to makeup artist lately, amped up the rapper's signature look with ‘90s-inspired brown lipliner and glossy lipstick, and Ono added extra definition to Meg's eyes by bringing her black liner from along to the roots of her lashes down to the inner corners for a feline effect.

BTS

All the way in South Korea, BTS walked a red carpet of their very own creation. As impressed as we are with their makeshift Grammys set, the guys' hair caught our eye too. Right in the center is the group's youngest member, Jungkook, with an ashy blonde mullet. (If you've been itching to try the on-trend look, add this picture to your mood board.) We're also loving the slicked-back hair on Jimin, who is second to the right. Consider us excited to see what looks they bring to their performance tonight.

H.E.R.

Picking our favorite part of H.E.R.'s Grammy 2021 look is next to impossible. Here's what the singer is working with: onyx waves flowing past her waist, mesmerizing purple-and-gold cut creases topped with lush falsies, and terracotta-brown lipstick. Luckily, we don't have to pick a winning element because each is more stunning than the next.
