Father-Son Duo Breaks World Record With Loop-Filled Hot Wheels Track

These days, it's becoming increasingly rare to see kids play with actual toys instead of iPads. Oregon five-year-old Gavin Lane, however, loves to play with Hot Wheels cars with his dad, Chase. Now, the duo has successfully set a Hot Wheels world record together.

The idea came about after Chase and Gavin saw a social media post about grandfather and grandson duo Tim Trevitt and Mason Gonzales, the record holders for the most loop-the-loops in a Hot Wheels track. The record was set earlier this year after they built a setup with 19 loop-the-loops.

The Lanes figured they could do one better and got to work. Over the course of one day, they built a racecar track with 20 loop-the-loops.

"I had family pitch in to buy the rest of the loops we needed," Chase told Guinness World Records. "I knew it would be a fun thing for us to do together."

They had to improvise to ensure that the track was able to support the toy cars zipping and looping on it smoothly. To do this, they used cardboard and tape to hold it together. "The whole thing took about six hours," Chase recounted.

Friends and family showed up to watch the big record attempt. In the end, one of their Hot Wheels cars successfully made it to the end of the track, zooming through all 20 loops along the way. Both father and son were thrilled with the outcome.

"We feel great," Chase said proudly. "Everyone is amazed that we made the effort and took the time to do this. No one we know has completed or attempted a record."

Nothing says "father-son bonding" like racing into the history books together.
