From Town & Country

Prepare yourself, '90s comedy lovers. Father of the Bride, the beloved Nancy Meyers-written remake of the 1950's classic, is getting a third chapter almost thirty years after the first film stole our hearts in 1991. Well, sort of.

Today, Netflix announced that most of the cast of Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II will be reuniting for a special event to benefit Chef José Andrés's World Central Kitchen, a charitable organization focused on providing meals to disaster victims. While it's not yet clear what the event will entail, the special, which will debut live on Netflix's YouTube channel at 3pm PT/6pm ET on September 25, will include original stars Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kieran Culkin, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Martin Short, and is written and directed by Meyers herself.

After some teasing social media posts, Netflix finally debuted a trailer today along with the official announcement—watch it in full above. In it, we see lots of clips from the first two films followed by an exterior shot of the Banks house that serves as the main setting for the films, with a voiceover of Keaton calling for Martin's character, George, and George responding, "I'm just washing my hands! One more 'Happy Birthday' to go!"

Combined with a tweet from Netflix earlier this week—which included a video of George Banks' email featuring an invitation to a family meeting—followed by an Instagram post from Meyers pondering, "If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?" the event could take the form of a video meeting between the fictional Banks family and friends, and possibly including another special wedding announcement to spark George's anxiety. Grandfather of the Bride? We'd certainly watch it.

We'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what the big family news is, but in the meantime, you can catch up on your nostalgia trip by streaming Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II now.
