Is a return to Serenity in the future? JoAnna Garcia Swisher sure hopes so—and so do we!

Discussing Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias with Parade in early 2023, the Reba alum said, "It was really a fun season and it's setting up—I'm just gonna manifest Season 4 because the story has to continue!"

While previous seasons of the charming Netflix show left fans on cliffhangers, the third season ended on a high note for Serenity's Maddie (Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Headley).

"I feel like this season, Season 3 ends in a very hopeful new beginning kind of feel and I think that it's really in tune with [the show]," Swisher previously told Parade. "You had a lot of chaos to start the show, and the dust is kind of settling, and then you really build towards these solid relationships and I think that you really start to feel like there are new beginnings. It's an exciting future for Serenity and everyone that's inside of it."

So, what does the future hold for Sweet Magnolias? Here is everything we know.

How did Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias end?

The third season of Sweet Magnolias ended with Dana Sue and Ronnie renewing their vows surrounded by their family and friends in Serenity. "This is what Miss Frances yearned for. The legacy continues. Community grows. The future gleams," Helen tells Maddie and Dana Sue at the celebration.

The finale teased that there could still be hope for Helen and Erik after she caught the bouquet at the reception. Meanwhile, Maddie and Cal seem to be stronger than ever—plus, her ex-husband Bill has left town for a bit with Ronnie's estranged sister, Kathy.

“I thought it was a brilliant combination of a happy ending but also hope for more,” Elliott, who plays Dana Sue, told TVLine, noting that the Season 3 "finale did have some closure, but if you dig in, you can see that there are still stories to come. There are other pieces that could be revealed. Hopefully we get more [seasons]. That would be great.”

Although the season "ended with a nice button," Swisher told Tudum, "It almost feels like it was a necessary button to really dig in deep for the future."

She added, "There’s still so much to be told, so it almost feels like a cliff-hanger in itself.”
