Of course, we had to try it for ourselves.

If you had the chance to ask your favorite celebrity any question, what would you ask? At Allrecipes, when we get that opportunity, it should come as no surprise that we're always wondering what's on their plates. We love to learn what actors, television hosts, and other professionally-busy people eat on their days on, days off, and all other days in between.

Savannah Guthrie is no exception. The "Today" coanchor, "New York Times" best-selling author, and self-proclaimed "recovering attorney" is one busy woman. Her days start early—and we mean really early—and when she's not on-duty at "Today", she's busy keeping up with her daughter, Vale (9) and son, Charley (6). So what's on her menu?

When we sat down with Guthrie for the Fall issue of Allrecipes magazine, she told us all about how she tends to mix it up at dinnertime. Living in New York City, she frequents Mediterranean, Thai, and Mexican restaurants in her neighborhood, but also still loves a good burger, fries, and milkshake ("I love a milkshake more than is reasonable for someone my age to love.") But when it comes to lunch, she keeps it simple.

"Embarrassingly, I eat [the exact same thing] for lunch every single day of the week." And she wasn't exaggerating—Guthrie even had it in her purse when we chatted. What's more—it's not a gourmet offering or one from a niche NYC deli. It's from a fast food chain we all frequent. So which sandwich secured the spot? None other than a breakfast offering from Starbucks.

Savannah Guthrie's Go-To Lunch From Starbucks

Guthrie turns to the Bacon-Style Turkey, Cheddar & Egg White Sandwich from Starbucks every day at lunchtime. On first glance, it seems like the ideal grab-and-go lunch alongside a coffee in the morning. Since we at Allrecipes wholeheartedly believe anything good enough for Guthrie is good enough for us, I decided to give it a try.

According to Starbucks, the sandwich consists of turkey bacon, egg whites, and melted white Cheddar cheese, all on a wheat English muffin. The sandwich is an iteration of my usual go-to bagel sandwich order, so I was excited to try it. It's not hard to see why Guthrie turns to this sandwich day in, and day out; It's easy, convenient, and packed with protein to keep her fueled on those busy, long days shooting "Today" and wrangling the kids.

We Tried Savannah Guthrie's Favorite Sandwich From Starbucks

As I kind of suspected, the sandwich was good but missing something. Luckily, my coworker gave me a hot tip from her friend who works at Starbucks—ask for some Sriracha on the side. They have packets available for one of their other food offerings, but were happy to give me a few for my sandwich, too. The hot sauce added some much-needed spice and acidity, and took this lunch from good to great.

Since Guthrie hails from the Southwest, I'm assuming she likes a little spice in her food, too, and must be using this Sriracha trick. That, or—like Beyonce—Guthrie has hot sauce in her bag. Either way, I'll be turning to this sandwich as an alternative to the beloved Starbucks egg white bites on busy days. The only idea I won't be stealing from Guthrie is that 4am wake up call—that's best left to the professionals.
