Fast-food chain Cook Out is coming to Tampa with 2 locations

Soon we can add another place to get a burger in Tampa to our list. Popular North Carolina-based fast-food chain Cook Out is opening two locations in Tampa, according to Hillsborough County deeds of sale.

Records show the company purchased two former Boston Market locations at 5501 E. Fowler Ave. and 16215 N. Dale Mabry Highway earlier this month.

An email to the company went unanswered at the time of publication.

Cook Out opened in 1989 in Greensboro, North Carolina. It grew in that state before expanding to more locations in the South, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama. Its website currently shows dozens of new locations in many of those states, but doesn’t mention Florida — yet. The Tampa locations will be the chain’s first in Florida.

Despite an almost comically confusing menu, the chain is wildly popular for its burgers, corn dogs, hush puppies and milkshakes, with a robust offering of flavors, including a seasonal watermelon one during the summer.

It also serves barbecue, char-grilled chicken breast served a variety of ways, hot dogs and quesadillas. Coke and Cheerwine floats made with soft serve ice cream and cheesecake are also popular.
