Sofia Coppola Ties The Knot

Leave it to Sofia Coppola to bend the rules when it comes to a traditional wedding. The film director opted for a lavender knee-length dress instead of the standard white gown, as she wed husband Thomas Mars last Saturday. In true Coppola style, the dress was custom-made Azzedine Alaia. The intimate wedding of 80 guests took place at the Coppolas' private villa estate in Bernalda, Italy, according to People magazine. We think our invite must have gotten lost in the mail... (Getty photo)

Marc Jacobs Gets A Retrospective

Marc Jacobs may be preparing for a possible, still unconfirmed move from Louis Vuitton to Christian Dior. Maybe that's why the French fashion house is feeling a bit sentimental -- to honor Jacobs' great accomplishments and contributions, Louis Vuitton is planning an exhibition during Milan Fashion Week that will pay tribute to Jacobs, as Womens Wear Daily reported. The fashion expo will be curated by stylist and editor Katie Grand and will run from September 22 through October 9 at the Triennale. (Getty photo)

Beyond Denim

Hollywood- and royally-approved denim line J Brand made quite a splash when it announced last Wednesday that it is launching a full sportswear line for next spring, as Womens Wear Daily reported. With retail prices for the new line ranging from $200 to $1,500, the upcoming addition isn't exactly affordable. But it seems that's not necessarily their goal: the brand said that it's trying to compete with pricey lines like Helmut Lang, Isabel Marant and Rag & Bone. (Getty photo)

Come On, Irene!

Although Hurricane Irene's damage is already be done, the storm's still wreaking havoc on top designers' agendas: it's messing with the schedule for New York Fashion Week. Marc Jacobs was the first to reschedule his show, pushing it back from Monday to Thursday. According to Womens Wear Daily, the designer blamed the hurricane with disrupting the design team's work, requiring more time to prepare. Now WWD has reported that Theyskens' Theory has also pushed back his show due to the storm's interruption of the team's daily grind. Thanks a lot, Irene. (Getty photo)

Michael Kors Thinks Models Are Fibbing

It's no surprise that models start their careers at extraordinarily young ages -- but it may be even younger than we think. In a Q&A with Lauren Hutton for Interview magazine, Michael Kors suggested that models may have lied to him about their real ages in order to book gigs. Kors says, "It's a tricky thing because no matter how beautiful you might be at 15 or 16, the simple truth is that you haven't lived enough to really know how to project anything in a photograph. It's like a kind of blank beauty." Well put, Mr. Kors. (Getty photo)

Hermès Cant Keep Up

Luxury brand Hermès has not been feeling the shaky economy lately. According to Elle UK, the French label famous for their ridiculously expensive Birkin bags reported an impressive surge of 50% in the first half of the year. Hermès has the successful sales of handbags in the US and Japan to thank for the soaring profits. However, it appears Hermes is doing a little too: it's struggling to keep up with the high demand for their bags. As a result, it expects its growth rate to slow down due to the an inability to produce stock to match consumers' demand. (Getty photo)

The flagship store will be Kirkwood's second store and will open in early 2012. (Getty photo)

Tavi Gevinson's New Site

Kiddie fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson has chosen a very appropriate name for her new online magazine: "Rookie." The pint-sized fashionista's latest venture will hit the world wide web this Monday, according to Fashionologie. The website's managing editor, Emily Condon, says that the editorial content will focus on back-to-school topics and other "firsts." Tavi told the New York Times Magazine, "Our content respects a kind of intelligence in the readers that right now a lot of writing about teenage girls doesn't." Well said -- especially for a 13-year-old.

Don't Expect To See Galliano In The Courtroom For His Verdict

Although John Galliano appeared in court last June to give his testimony in Paris, don't get too used to his presence in the courtrooms. According to Fashionologie, Galliano's lawyers said that the ex-Dior designer will not be present when his verdict takes place on September 8. We'll be tuning in and holding our breath for the highly-anticipated decision regarding the controversial anti-semitism case. If found guilty, Galliano could face up to six-months in jail, and a fine of $32,410-although based on the June trial, the prosecutor recommended a lowered fine of around $7,188. (Getty photo)
