Fashion trends will bloom at springtime fundraiser

May 2—JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — This fundraiser event will be in full bloom with the latest fashion trends.

The annual Springtime Serenade Fashion Show, presented by the Johnstown and Somerset auxiliaries of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunnehanna Country Club, 1000 Sunnehanna Drive, Westmont.

Mary Borkow, co-chairwoman of the fashion show, said the event is returning this year after last being held in 2019.

"We are really excited because this is the symphony's largest fundraiser and we're coming back bigger and better," she said.

"It was time to bring this back, and we all missed the fashion show over the years. It's an event that people look forward to and come out to every year."

The fundraiser will begin with complimentary champagne punch at 5:30 p.m. with local artist Mark Ed entertaining, followed by dinner and raffle, door and table prizes.

The fashion show will begin at 7 p.m.

Serving as models will be Chris Carpenter, Erin Codey, Rosalee Danchanko, Chip Minemeyer, Amy Bradley, Angela Godin, Helene Gleason, Jen Johnson, Tamara Bernstein, Kerri Duca, Jane Gleason, Kelly Gonher, Stephanie Roth, Wayne Langerholc Jr., John Polacek, Ed Sheehan, Marie Eger, Teresa Marafino, Tina Miralovich, Jennifer Tiffany, James Blachly, Jeffrey Webb, Sean Eiler, Bill Locher, Quinn Komar, Marlie Krug, Makayla Morrocco, Isabella Porta and Angela Seifert.

"We'll have casual, business day wear and formal wear," Borkow said. "People will see the latest 2024 fashions that are coming out."

Stores providing fashions for the show include Boscov's, Feathered Lane, Gold Rush, Pro Shop at Sunnehanna Country Club, Maurices, Miller's Clothing Store and Celestial Brides.

"They'll be bringing spectacular fashions," Borkow said. "Every year we have wonderful fashions and they're a delight to see. This year, I think it will be the best because all the stores are excited about participating, and we're utilizing local stores."

In addition, Boscov's will be doing the makeup on the models.

Borkow said the fashion show typically attracts around 225 people, and organizers are expecting another full house this year.

"We always have a sellout crowd, and the seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis," Borkow said.

"It's such a fun night to sit back and relax and put all your troubles on hold and enjoy the fashions. Everyone walks away with a smile on their face and totally enjoys the evening."

Proceeds will benefit JSO programming.

"It's a necessity for us to be raising money, but we're doing it in such a fun-loving way," Borkow said.

Cost is $50 per person, and seating is limited.

No tickets will be sold at the door.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 814-241-6918 or 814-233-6363.
