For years, men’s red carpet fashion was merely a side dish of cookie-cutter tuxedos. Now, it is often the entrée.

Menswear has taken center stage because of daring envelope-pushers like Harry Styles, Timothée Chalamet and Billy Porter — and the designers and stylists behind them. And this year’s awards season promises to be a visual feast.

The Fashion Stylists Behind 2024’s Awards Season Leading Men

When it comes to the stylists helping to craft the looks at this year’s Golden Globes, Ilaria Urbinati leads the pack.

The veteran image maker will be dressing Barry Keoghan, who’s nominated for “Saltburn,” James Marsden, up for “Jury Duty,” Tyler James Williams, nominated for “Abbott Elementary,” and Ramy Youssef, attending for “Poor Things.”

Born in Rome and raised in Paris, Urbinati began her career in fashion as a buyer before entering the world of styling. Based in Los Angeles, she’s also experienced retail; she opened a store in Silver Lake in 2008, Confederacy, now closed, featuring brands like Etro, Alaïa, Proenza Schouler, Martin Margiela, Michael Bastian, Rag & Bone and A.P.C. She collaborated on a line of tailored suits that were seen on Ryan Gosling’s character in “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” has done capsule collections for Eddie Bauer, Montblanc, The Mighty Company, Rebecca Minkoff, London Sock Company and Roots of Fight, and has had partnerships with Porsche, Walmart and David Yurman. Often named in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Most Powerful Stylists” issue, she has graced its cover alongside client Dwayne Johnson.

Jeanne Yang is also no stranger to top stylists lists. Based in L.A., she began her career as the managing editor and associate publisher at Detour Magazine. Over the years, her roster of clients has included Christian Bale, Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves, Jamie Dornan, Taika Waititi, Simu Liu, Kumail Nanjiani, Regé-Jean Page and Anthony Mackie. At the Globes, she will be dressing Alexander Skarsgård (“Succession”) and Joseph Lee (“Beef”). In 2023, it was announced that Yang joined Anonymous Content as a manager and producer. She works across all divisions, representing emerging talent, developing and producing film and TV projects, leading new ventures, branding deals and working on Anonymous Content’s creative incubator, The Lab. Lee is among her clients.

One to watch is stylist Evet Sanchez, who has been dressing Leonardo DiCaprio lately during his “Killers of the Flower Moon” tour. She had him in Gucci tuxedos at both the LACMA gala in L.A. and the 2023 Gotham Awards in New York. Meanwhile at the Cannes Film Festival, he wore custom Alexander McQueen. In the past, Sanchez has styled music videos for Common and Jack White. (She has also done red carpet work for the likes of Emma Watson and Rosario Dawson.) A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, she has education certificates in sustainability and corporate sustainability from UCLA and NYU, focusing on advocating for social and environmental change as part of her styling work.

Warren Alfie Baker is another one to keep an eye on. The L.A.-based stylist specializes in menswear with clients that include Andrew Garfield, Zachary Levi, Glen Powell, KJ Apa, Diego Boneta, Harry Shum Jr., Finn Wolfhard, Patrick Dempsey, Dylan O’Brien and Lucas Hedges. At the Globes, he’ll be dressing Ben Affleck, attending for “Air,” Matt Bomer (“Fellow Travelers”) and Andrew Scott (“All of Us Strangers”).

Known stylist Jamie Mizrahi, who dresses both men and women, has a buzzy star to dress at the Globes: Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”), who recently appeared in his first Calvin Klein ad.

Mizrahi got her start working with stylist Elizabeth Sulcer before taking a job at Vogue in New York. She then moved to L.A. where she assisted stylists Petra Flannery and Simone Harouche. Her big break came when Eva Mendes asked her to dress her for the “Place Behind the Pines” press tour. (She will also be dressing Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for “No Hard Feelings,” and Riley Keough, nominated for “Daisy Jones & The Six.”)

Samantha McMillen, too, is a known name for styling men and women. At the Globes, she will be dressing Charles Melton, up for his role in “May December” and Mark Ruffalo, nominated for “Poor Things” (along with Elle Fanning, nominated for “The Great,” Brie Larson, nominated for “Lessons in Chemistry,” and Jodie Foster, nominated for “Nyad”). McMillen began her career working in public relations for designers Richard Tyler and Giorgio Armani before becoming a stylist in 2001. Her campaigns and collaborations have included work with Tiffany & Co, Hugo Boss, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Dior, L’Oréal, Tag Heuer and Omega. She’s also been on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Most Powerful Stylists” cover, posing alongside Larson.
