A new Farmers Market is coming to Dallas this summer, and visitors can expect brunch, local vendors and a view.

Sandcastle Farm has been in the Rhyne family for 100 years.

Sebron Dixon, the fifth generation of the family to work on the farm - which is still in operation growing corn, hay, and more - opened The Barn at Sandcastle Farm as an event venue six years ago.

While the venue is available for many different occasions, “Weddings are what we do the most of,” Dixon said.

Wedding bookings keep the space relatively busy in the spring, fall and winter.

Although the farm is operating year round, largely tended by 91-year-old William Rhyne, business at The Barn generally slows down in the summer, according to Dixon.

This year rather than allowing the space to sit largely unused in the off season, the family decided to get out of their comfort zone and host the first ever Dallas Farmers Market at Sandcastle Farm, she said.

In addition to vendors like the All American Dog Treat Company, Ellis Farms, Candyland Creations, and tea company KRVNG, the market will also offer brunch and tables to sit and eat at the farm.

“I do hope we’re one of the first farmers markets that will have a bar available,” Dixon said.

The business recently got a license to serve alcohol and will sell mimosas, beer and wine to go with brunch served by local food trucks on-site.

She said the family is excited to get everybody together and do something different.

The market will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on the first and third Sunday in May, June, July and August at 147 Sandcastle Road in Dallas.

It will also open from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 22.

Vendors interested in setting up shop at the market can email Dixon at sebron@barnatsandcastle.com.

The vendor fee is $20 for an outdoor space and $25 for a space inside the barn.
