Farmers Antique Tractor & Engine Association schedules 2024 spring show for May 17-19

ROME TWP. — Three days of vintage farm equipment displays including tractors, steam engines and other implements for agricultural use can be viewed this weekend during the Farmers Antique Tractor & Engine Association’s Spring Vintage Tractor and Engine show.

All the events will take place on the association’s grounds west of Adrian in Rome Township, 7600 Forrister Road, from Friday, May 17, through Sunday, May 19. The show will host collectors and enthusiasts of vintage farm equipment from all over the Lenawee County and surrounding areas, Jim Opersal, president of the association said.

“This year, we will be showcasing the Massey-Harris/Massey-Ferguson line of vintage equipment. We will also be showcasing David Bradley Garden Tractors, a brand sold through Sears & Roebuck catalogs,” Opersal said in a news release.

The spring tractor and engine show will be held rain or shine. Admission to the show is $5 per person with children 12 or younger admitted for free. There also is free parking. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In addition to the special showcase feature, there will be displays and demonstrations of other types of vintage equipment such as tractor/lawn mower pulling, a working sawmill, copy lathe, plowing and rope making. Games and activities for kids and adults to enjoy have been added to this spring’s event lineup, Opersal said.

“This show is for people of all ages to enjoy,” he said. “There will be food vendors, lost arts, swap meet/outdoor marketplace, petting zoo, old-fashion kid’s games, 50/50 raffles, live entertainment Friday evening with Larry Rothman and rides around the grounds.”

The Farmers Antique Tractor & Engine Association (FATEA) was founded in 1982 and now has more than 275 members. It hosts two tractor shows each year, a spring show usually in May and a fall show in September.
