'Fantasy Island' Star Roselyn Sanchez Gave an Unexpected Season 2 Update on TikTok

Fantasy Island fans, it may be a little while before you're back on vacation.
Fans were already upset when the Fox show's season 2 premiere had to be pushed back from May 31 to the fall 2022 TV season. Now, it looks like they'll need to brace themselves for a bit of disappointment yet again, because star Roselyn Sanchez just gave an unexpected update on social media.
On July 13, the actress let her fans know the status of Fantasy Island on TikTok. In the minute-long clip, she explained what was going on with filming, including when fans can expect a season 2 premiere date.
"Hola mi gente. Hello everybody," Roselyn began the video. "So, a little thing. Everybody keeps asking me, 'When is Fantasy Island season 2 coming out?' You know, we were supposed to premiere again during summer, but it's been changed to midseason. So it's gonna be early January, okay?"
Shucks, we were so ready to see more adventures from Elena Roarke and the roundtable of guests at the luxury resort. But as the Rush Hour 2 actress pointed out, waiting for January will pay off.
"I promise you guys, it's worth the wait. This second season is just exquisite," Roselyn continued. "I am so very proud. I did some ADR yesterday and it looks so good. And the stories are so fantastic. So yeah, between season 1 and season 2, we have a gap. But it's all amazing and it's actually really good news."
Fans were clearly thrilled with the announcement. "Thank you for the update, I’m enjoying the reruns now," one viewer wrote. "Good to know, was worried. ❤," another follower commented. "I so ready for Season 2 to start 🥰🥰🥰," replied one more.
As much as we're bummed about waiting, this isn't the only show Fox bumped to a midseason premiere. When the network released its fall lineup, 9-1-1: Lone Star fans noticed there wasn't a season 4 premiere date. That's because the show will most likely be back in January 2023, following previous years of airing midseason.
