Fantasia Barrino came to slay the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet.

The Color Purple star and Golden Globe nominee, 39, wore a strapless dress and opera gloves for her first trip to the awards show. The design featured a black velvet top and silver skirt with a lilac overlay. She also wore a ring by Simon G.

Barrino has been on a style streak this awards season.

While she’s leaned into wearing the different shades of the color purple like the movie’s producer, Oprah Winfrey, as well as her costars including Danielle Brooks, she and stylist Daniel Hawkins have also enjoyed showing her range of sartorial taste.

For the movie’s star-studded Los Angeles premiere on Dec. 6, she was spotted in a custom Sergio Hudson number with a train.

A day earlier at ELLE’s Women In Hollywood Celebration on Dec. 5, she rocked a Yousef Akbar design and Jimmy Choo platform sandals.

Barrino plays Celie in the stage-to-screen adaptation of the Tony-winning musical, which premiered in 2005.

The American Idol season three winner also played the part on Broadway, an experience she told PEOPLE she “hated.”

“That was around the time that my life was so crazy, so it was almost like carrying my cross and Celie’s cross. I didn’t know how to come out of the character,” she shared in an exclusive interview.

When she was approached about starring in the film, she admitted, “I was like, ‘I’m not sure if I can do it or if I want to.’”

Seeing director Blitz Bazawule’s tweaks to the storyline inspired Barrino to change her mind.

“He showed me he was giving Celie an imagination this go-round for audiences to see how she got through. I was all in.”
