Gwen Stefani Posts Throwback Picture As Fans Comment: 'I Miss The Old Gwen'

Gwen Stefani’s fans have been shocked by her appearance on quite a few occasions over the past few years; and now the former No Doubt singer has shocked them once again, only this time it’s her *past* appearance that is driving social media wild!

On May 22nd, the 53-year-old “Hollaback Girl” singer shared a black and white picture of herself with her 16.1M Instagram followers, with the caption: “little old me :) gx.” And her fans were extremely vocal in the comments section, with the overall consensus being that they preferred the way she looked back then – i.e., more natural!

“Miss those days! Bring No Doubt back please!” exclaimed one fan. “Like you better here,” one fan very bluntly said, which many others seemed to agree with, with one writing, “Bring her back,” and another adding, “I miss the old Gwen.” “We miss that Gwen!” exclaimed another fan, who shared the same opinion. “I miss that little old you,” agreed another.

“Looks like you’ve had a lot of changes made since then,” noted another fan, which we assume is in reference to the many alleged cosmetic treatments Gwen could have had done over the years. “I like your original nose it suits you better so pretty,” another fan chimed in. “Looks nothing like her now,” another Instagram user wrote, to which another replied, “Yea cause 75% of her is plastic now,” followed by a crying laughing emoji. “We miss your original face,” commented another.

Others couldn’t help but comment on Gwen’s very thin eyebrows, which were so on trend back then! “Great photo – Eyebrows are so 70’s-80’s,” wrote one fan, to which one replied, “Lol no it’s the 90’s eyebrows,” and another agreed, writing, “90s brows.” A large part of the comments section was still filled with compliments, with one fan saying, “Beautiful then and now,” followed by three fire emojis and another adding, “You look SO beautiful,” followed by the star eyes emoji and the red heart emoji.

Gwen shared a throwback snap of herself posing with her mom on February 24th, 2023 in honor of her mom’s birthday. In the picture, an adorable little girl, who is of course the “Rich Girl” singer at just a few years old, can be seen posing for the camera with her mom, dressed in a cute green and white polka dot dress with puffy white sleeves, accessorized with a matching hair bow (so cute and trend-driven!) and some white tights and black shoes. Gwen clearly had style from a very early age!

The picture got a lot of love in the comments section, as expected, with some fans saying they were totally shocked by her natural hair color! “Gwen, are you a redhead?!” asked one fan in disbelief, to which another responded with their own theory: “Looks like the picture is overall very warm-toned, giving everything a red hue. She was born in ’69, so pic was probably taken in 1970-’71. Blue pigments fade more over time than red pigments, and if I’m not mistaken the film at the time often had a red base. She’s a brunette.” Hmm… sounds logical, but we would love Gwen to clear this up herself!

Another fan said Gwen was “so cute” in the picture – no arguments there! – while another said, “Now we can see where your good looks come from,” followed by a smiley face emoji. “Beautiful picture of you two!” exclaimed another fan.

Fans Are Blown Away By How Different Gwen Stefani Looks With Bobbed Hair And Glasses

This isn’t the only time a throwback pic has shocked the former The Voice coach’s fans. Back in September 2022, she shared a throwback picture of herself with short curly hair and thick-rimmed glasses – a picture which was originally posted by her sister-in-law Jenny Stefani and then shared by Gwen on her Instagram Story – which showed the mom-of-three without her signature long, poker straight hair and Barbie-inspired look, sporting a much more casual and toned-down appearance and seemingly concentrating heavily while giving her sister-in-law a makeover!

Jenny captioned her picture, which was posted on Thursday, September 15th: “Lucky me glam session! #throwbackthursday #magicinthemakeup #letsplaydressup.”And naturally her famous sister-in-law’s fans blew up the comments section! “Okay but this is such a great look on Gwen. I love this style. And such a cute photo!! Wholesome moment, “gushed one fan, while another said that they wouldn’t have recognized the singer, writing, “I didn’t realize this was Gwen.”

“Gorgeous girls,” wrote another fan, followed by the heart eyes emoji. Another fan simply commented about how fun the makeover moment must have been (which we totally agree with!) writing, “Awwww how fun!” while another couldn’t help but notice a resemblance between the two ladies, adding, “You look so alike!” Is that what Gwen was going for with the makeover, we wonder?!

Another throwback picture of the “What You Waiting For?”  singer which proves just how different she used to look is the one posted on the ‘Classic Rock in Pics’ (@crockpics) Twitter account on July 20th, 2022. The picture, taken in 1983, shows what appears to be a teenage Gwen getting Sting’s autograph, sporting a short haircut and a casual neutral-colored shorts and sweater combo. The internet was understandably shocked by the picture, with one Twitter user one asking, “That’s Gwen?” and another insisting, “No No can’t be Gwen no no no.”
