Gayle King just added a fancy new boot to her shoe collection—an air boot, that is. The CBS Mornings co-host, 67, recently revealed on Instagram that she was diagnosed with Achilles tendonitis.

King took a video from the examination room after undergoing an MRI and an x-ray to check things out. “Diagnosis just in, I am here with Dr. Nadia Levy. What’s the diagnosis?” she asked before turning the camera toward her doctor. “Achilles tendonitis,” Levy explained. “And she’s going to have to be in a boot just to calm it down and on some anti-inflammatories.”

King decided it was finally time to see a doctor after experiencing sudden increasing pain in her foot over the previous week. On May 17, she attended Hollywood Reporter’s annual Most Powerful People in Media event with a limp, wearing one clog and one high heel.

“I went to bed on Saturday, and I woke up Sunday to go pee, and I don’t know what it is, but the minute I touched the floor, I crumbled. I think it’s my Achilles,” she told Page Six at the time. She added that she was going to try and wait it out to see if her condition improved. “I hate going to the doctor!” she said.

Her pain clearly didn’t get better, because she ended up at the doctor. In her Instagram video, she said she didn’t fall or twist her foot to cause the injury. “I don’t know what I did wrong,” she said. Dr. Levy then explained that she simply “over-tweaked a tight tendon.”

“That’s me. Over tweaking a tight tendon,” she said. Thankfully, no surgery is required to help it heal. “Yay, diagnosis, and yay, no surgery!” she exclaimed. “Yay yay yay yay.”

Fans were quick to send their well-wishes and love. “Oh no! Prayers for a speedy recovery, we love you @gayleking ❤️,” wrote one fan. “🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽Wish you a speedy recovery!” another wrote.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Achilles tendonitis is the overuse of the Achilles tendon, which is the band of tissue that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. It typically begins with mild leg aches and the pain then progresses over time.

King has already been seen out and about rocking her new boot since. “Hobbled in with a clog hobbling out with this very attractive boot,” she captioned the post. Last weekend, she was photographed at the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore wearing a neon yellow dress and one sneaker to match, the boot supporting the other foot.

It’s too bad they don’t make those casts in more fun colors. Then King would really be stepping out in style.
