Sydney Sweeney Makes Fans Do A Double Take With New IG Photo

On December 15th, Sweeney posted a photo of herself from the upcoming film in which she is seen wearing a white button-up top, and has her blonde hair styled into a slicked-back updo. She is also seemingly makeup free (or wearing ‘natural-looking’ makeup) in the photo, which fans pointed out made her look “different” (as she usually rocks an epic cat-eye or smokey eye look).

In her caption, Sweeney wrote, “first look at our film “Reality” the American whistle blower directed by Tina Satter.” Sweeney continued, writing to her 14.4 million followers, “back in may @jhamilton @marchantdavis and I shot for 16 grueling days, one room, and our words taken directly from the fbi transcript.” The White Lotus alum added, “so excited our film will be premiering at @berlinale, can’t wait to share more :)” while noting that the forthcoming flick will premiere at Berlinale in February 2023, one of the globe’s largest public film festivals.

Fan Reactions

Under Sweeney’s post, one fan wrote, “omg I almost didn’t recognize you!” as another added, “why does she look so different?” Someone else chimed in, commending Sweeney’s acting skills and ability to transform into character, commenting, “it’s giving versatility.” Another user wrote, speaking for us all, “Sounds intriguing, especially about the FBI transcript. Now the one room for 16 days, well that shows your dedication as a professional actress. I look forward to seeing it.”

As previously reported by Deadline, for Reality, Sweeney will play Reality Winner, a former American intelligence specialist. Winner, as the publication notes, was given the “longest sentence ever (five years, three months in federal prison) for the unauthorized release of government information to the media” for leaking an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections “via an email phishing operation.”

The film will also star actor Josh Hamilton (who you may know from The Walking Dead and Eighth Grade) and Marchánt Davis (known for his role in 2019’s The Day Shall Come). Reality was also partially based on Satter’s acclaimed play Is This A Room, which had a critically acclaimed Broadway run in fall 2021. With her notable Emmy nominations and clear acting chops, we’re sure Sweeney will nail the role!
