Miley Cyrus has dropped new music, and not only is it a treat for your ears, it also appears to be somewhat autobiographical.

The song, 'Midnight Sky', seems to be about escaping from a relationship and finding your own way - and of course fans think it's about Miley's relationship with ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.

The couple were together on-and-off for 10 years, and married in December 2018 before announcing their split in August 2019. Since then, she's gone on to date Kaitlynn Carter and Cody Simpson - the latter she split from just this week.

While the lyrics could reference her current situation, fans think the song is about a long relationship ending. And lyrics like: But it's been a long time since I felt this good on my own / Lotta years went by with my hands tied up in your ropes / Forever and ever, no more - certainly seem to reference a big break-up.

She also sings: I was born to run, I don't belong to anyone, oh no / I don't need to be loved by you, and See my lips on her mouth, everybody's talkin' now, baby - which could refer to her relationship with Kaitlynn after announcing her divorce.

Miley recently spoke about her inspiration for the song, and didn't mention anything about her exes - instead, she said it was about having a "personal moment". "This song is really just a reflection of everyone kind of having this personal kind of woke moment, I feel like a lot of us are waking up," she revealed. "And you know, the midnight sky, I think is kind of a road that feels like it could be nice to take with our head up in the clouds. You know, I feel like right now in society, we don’t want to live with our heads in the clouds."

Either way, it's still a banger.
