Fans Think Miley Cyrus’s “She’s Not Him” Is About Leaving Stella Maxwell For Liam Hemsworth

Uh oh.

Miley Cyrus's new album Younger Now is officially out and streamable now, and fans couldn't help but notice something striking about the song "She's Not Him." Namely, that it seems to be about Miley's ex, model Stella Maxwell.

"You're not him/She's not him/No matter what you say/No matter what you do/I just can't fall in love with you/'Cause you're not him/She's not him," sings Miley in the chorus — a dig that fans are saying allude to her brief relationship with Stella. Some are also saying that it alludes to why the pair may have broken things off — i.e. Miley may have left the model to reunite with her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth.

Miley continues to sing about her mixed feelings in the verses, with lines like, "Why can't I love you, baby?/Like I wanna love you baby/I'm sorry/Maybe it's beyond my control/Some sort of chemical reaction/Making it impossible to let him go." Whether or not the song is about Stella and Liam, it's obvious that Miley was going through something while she wrote the song, and was using music to help her figure it out.

That said, listeners have mixed reactions to the song. Because while some are loving it as a sweet tribute to Miley's love for Liam, others are also accusing the singer of using Stella for a song.

Some are even going as far as to question Miley's queerness.

That said, as others online pointed out, "She's Not Him" is also an important song in the sense that it gives visibility to bisexuality.

At the end of the day though, we don't know for sure whether or not "She's Not Him" is about Stella, Miley, and Liam; so until any of the parties involved come out and confirm or deny it, this is all just speculation. But in the meantime, let's not police or disparage anyone else's sexual identity.
