Fans Think Ariana Grande Made a Pete Davidson Reference During Her Grammys Performance

It&aposs officially the end of another Ariana Grande era—if you believe her army of fans, at least. After last night&aposs Grammy medley, Arianators took to Twitter to mourn the closure of her Thank U, Next album cycle. The Sweetener World Tour is over, after all, and this performance felt like punctuation to the end of a long sentence.

That sentence, if you forget, included a brief relationship and engagement to Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. And last night (January 26) at the Grammys, Grande might&aposve said goodbye to him once and for all. Toward the final part of her set, we saw her crawl onto a bed, seemingly take off an engagement ring, and put it in a box. Was this symbolic of Grande definitively closing the book on that part of her life? Some fans online think so.

Others, however, think Grande&aposs performance was just closing her Thank U, Next era in general—not making a direct reference to Davidson. Her relationship with him did end in 2018, so it&aposs highly unlikely she&aposs still thinking about him so long after the fact. She also reportedly gave back the ring Davidson got her for their engagement in October 2018.

Regardless, the performance seemed final, so what lies ahead for Grande? It&aposs unclear. Perhaps a new album is in the works. Maybe she&aposs ready to get back into the dating game. (That&aposs what this fan suggested: "I mean, I feel like she put on that ring to say, &aposI&aposm married to the money for now lmao.&apos Once she took it off, she said, &aposI&aposm back!&apos" they wrote.) We&aposll probably never know for sure, but a few things are certain: Thank U, Next deserved more awards last night—stream "Bad Idea" now—and this photo of Davidson and Grande at the peak of their relationship will live on forever:
