Fans Theorize About Why Miley Cyrus Deleted Her Instagrams
In the age of social media, there are a handful of reasons why a celebrity might go completely dark on Instagram. Sometimes, it's the result of mean comments from fans (like when Justin Bieber completely removed all pics — including so many shirtless selfies — from his Insta). Other times, it's because they have something ~major~ in the works, like we saw from Taylor Swift last summer.
Last week, fans noticed that Miley Cyrus went completely MIA on Instagram. (Yep, even her romantic photos of Liam are nowhere to be found — sob!) If you go to Miley's page right now, you'll see that her profile picture has been replaced with a black circle, and all of her pics are gone. Her Twitter, on the other hand, still has all of its content, but both her profile and header photo have been completely wiped.
Some fans have decided that this could only mean one thing: Miley is planning something really big. One fan explained on Twitter: "We all know how much Miley’s IG posts meant to her at point and meant to us because it’s the only way we would feel connected to her. The fact that she’s [deleted] all her 2013-14 posts already and is still deleting is HUGE." Another simply exclaimed, "The world is not ready."
In addition to suspecting that the singer-songwriter has some surprises up her sleeve, fans are bracing themselves for an entirely new era. Could it be possible that Miley is pulling a Taylor? "The old Miley can't come to the phone right now," and all that? Some fans definitely think so.
"The same tactic was used by Taylor Swift before announcing the era 'Reputation'," one fan pointed out, adding the hashtag #MileyIsComing. Another person even put together an entire "concept thread" for the possible "new Miley" that we'll see. Some people are wondering if Miley will also make a change to her appearance (like maybe a new hair color), while others are just anxious for what could be new music around the corner.
One thing is for sure — fans aren't taking their eyes off of Miley's social media pages. And when the "new Miley" decides to show herself, everyone will be waiting.
