Another addition to the brothers and sisters. Star Wars fans are itching to see who the Inquisitor is in Ahsoka.

Well after their prime of the Empire, an Inquisitor named Marrok was hired by Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) to battle off Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) while Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson)’s apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) oversees an equipment transfer that will lead them to Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Milkkensen). The Inquisitor is quite a match for Ahsoka while battling it out with their lightsabers. But who could Marrok be under their mask? It could be endless possibilites.

The Star Wars Data Bank described the character, “Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt.”

With little hints, Star Wars fans theorized the many possibilities that Marrok could be.

Ezra Bridger

The ultimate fan theory of Marrok’s identity is that the masked villain is actually Ezra Bridger. It would make sense that Grand Admiral Thrawn had brainwashed Ezra to join the Dark Side when they were both swept away from the known parts of the galaxy. If the Inquisitor was truly Ezra, it would be a heartwrenching reunion between him, Ahsoka, and Sabine.

Even during the Inquisitor’s first appearance, fans were quick to react on social media about the potential that it could be the Star Wars Rebels character. “We just found out this Inquisitor in Ahsoka is named “Marrok”. In Arthurian Legend, Sir Marrok is a knight that gets turned into a wolf,” one Star Wars fan theorized on X formerly known as Twitter, since Ezra’s connection to the loth-wolves was heavily emphasized in the animated show.

However, Screen Rant disproved this theory since Marrok’s biography was posted on the Official Star Wars website’s Data Bank. Marrok worked for the Empire long before their allegiance to Morgan Elsbeth, which rules out Ezra as the foe.

Barriss Offee

Another theory that comes from the depths of Clone Wars is that Marrok is Ahsoka’s best friend turned foe Barriss Offee. In Clone Wars, Barriss Offee framed Ahsoka for murder after she became disillusioned with the Jedi Order and fell into the Dark Side. There’s a slight hope to her character revival, but many fans pointed out that Marrok’s stunt person is  Paul “Diddy” Darnell who has done stunts in the Star Wars universe before. So it might not be her after all.

Starkiller

Starkiller, real name Galen Marek, was the protagonist of the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The name similarities might be a given, but it’s unknown whether or not Dave Filoni had this in mind while making the new character. Marek was a force-sensitive child found by Darth Vader during Order 66 and raised him to be his apprentice and ordered to kill Jedi.

Sam Witwer revealed during a Twitch stream that Dave Filoni at one point considered having the character Starkiller included in Star Wars: Rebels. “Dave did share with me, by the way, he considered making Starkiller an Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels,” Witwer said. “It didn’t quite fit the story that they were telling, but he did think about it because he thought that would be interesting.” So, will he be included in Ahsoka? We’ll just wait and see.
