Fans are all saying the same thing about Kylie Jenner's Met Gala dress

The Met Gala's back, much to the delight of sofa fashion critics around the world, and this year's red-carpeted steps brought *plenty* discuss. Like Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn Monroe's dress, Kendall Jenner's bleached eyebrows, or how cute newlyweds Brooklyn and Nicola looked, for starters.

And no Met Gala fashion breakdown would be complete without discussing the theme - who smashed it, and who missed the point entirely, etc. While many are referencing this year's dress code of "Gilded Glamour, White Tie," the *official* theme is actually "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," to pair with the museum's new exhibition celebrating American style. Kylie Jenner interpreted the theme by wearing an Off-White gown by the late Black American designer, Virgil Abloh. The look, which appeared on the designer's autumn 2022 catwalk, is, surprise: a wedding dress! Complete with a backwards white baseball cap with a short veil attached. Phew. And everyone on Twitter had something to say about it, naturally.

Kylie shared a touching insight in an Instagram caption, saying "virgil and i were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020. to celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me. i’m humbled to wear this dress and honor my talented beautiful friend. we felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever ♾
& thank u to the entire @off____white team !!"

It's got to be said: as a half-American, half-British person who lived in the States until 2015, I can confirm that a baseball hat is potentially the most American wardrobe staple there is, beyond a pair of Levi's jeans or cowboy boots. (I don't think I stepped foot onto my uni campus without wearing one, for the entirety of my degree, nor did any of my classmates.) So if the theme was American fashion, I can see where she was going with this.
