Teams are racing to the finish line on Rock the Block's fifth season, but this week they were treated to a major surprise. The designers were expecting to begin their final work on the house, but instead, host Ty Pennington surprised them with an unexpected project: They had 48 hours to renovate a second-floor bedroom with multi-purpose space and bathroom. The teams were given 15 minutes to race through the warehouse and pick up anything they need for the room.

Former Major League Baseball Player Jimmy Rollins came on to give them a chance to earn a head-start on their shopping spree with a baseball pitching challenge, and Page won and got 2 extra minutes. Bryan and Sarah Baeumler (Renovation Island), Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas (Bargain Block), Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis (Unsellable Houses), and Page Turner and Mitch Glew (Fix My Flip) raced through the warehouse to get everything they needed for the space.

Lyndsay and Leslie opted for a bedroom/music room with soundproofing and a built-in desk. They hung guitars in shadow boxes for a decorative accent. Bryan and Sarah chose a kids' bedroom/craft room with a twin bed and crib plus a table for art projects.

Keith and Evan created a serene bedroom with a meditation space and featured original artwork and impressive built-ins. Page and Mitch designed a social media room with dark walls, a podcast recording setup, ring lights, and a daybed.

Ty waited until after the challenge to reveal who would be judging, and the teams were shocked to find out that they would be judging each other's rooms. He said, "For the first time ever, your rooms will be judged will be you. You cannot vote for yourself, nor can you be in the space when it is toured by your competitors." Each room was awarded a score on a scale of 1 to 10.

Ty revealed that Bryan and Sarah were chosen to be the winners of the challenge with an average score of 9.1 and the recipients of the $6,000 reward. Sarah said they felt like they went out on a limb with a children's room, not typically seen on Rock the Block, and the risk paid off.

HGTV shared the news on Instagram, and fans sounded off in the comments, most with messages of support for Keith and Evan: "Keith and Evan were clear winners. The built-in and art work took the room to next level," "I love Brian and Sarah, but Keith and Evan were robbed yet again!" and "Getting harder to watch Rock the Block. A craft room / kids room with a crib?! No tub…and babies and toddlers put everything into their mouths. Odd combo. Keith and Evan clearly created the best space…again!" Another said, "This was so BORING! Gosh, what were they thinking! Judged y’all selves and STILL got it wrong. Kids room with no storage and no bathtub. On what earth does this win??"

Only one episode remains of season 5! Up next, teams will push toward the finish line with final renovations on the homes.
