Katy Perry, 38, and Russell Brand, 48, divorced over ten years ago after just 14 months of marriage – but some of her previous comments about her ex-husband have resurfaced after he was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. According to a joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Sunday Times, and The Times, which the world found out about on Saturday, September 16th, numerous women accused the British comedian and actor of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013.

One of the allegations includes sexually assaulting a 16-year-old schoolgirl, while another woman alleged that he raped her “against a wall” in his Los Angeles home in July 2012. On Friday, September 15th, Brand took to social media to “absolutely refute” the allegations, and said all his relationships were “absolutely, always consensual.” But it didn’t take social media users long to dig up the “Dark Horse” hitmaker’s previous comments about her ex, which she made in an interview with Vogue back in 2013 following their divorce.

Katy Perry Said She Found Out The 'Real Truth' About Her Ex-Husband In 2013 'Vogue' Interview

In an interview with Vogue back in 2013, the American Idol judge hinted that she found out the "real truth" about her ex-husband after they had gone their separate ways, but claimed that she wasn’t able to disclose it and had to keep it "locked" away.

The "Roar" singer spoke about a number of topics in the interview, including the "magical" early stages of their relationship. "At first when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, 'I can’t handle the equalness,'" she then told the pub.

The Smurfs actress then went on to talk about how things took a turn when the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor "didn’t like the atmosphere" of her "being the boss on tour." She said: "So, that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting." When they split, after the comedian reportedly told her he was divorcing her via text message on New Year's Eve in 2011, the "Harleys in Hawaii" singer said she was given some information that led to her finding out "the real truth" about her ex.

"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending," she said, adding, "but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that."

The "California Gurls" singer is now engaged to Pirates of the Caribbean actor Orlando Bloom, 46, and is mom to their three-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, while Brand has been married to Laura Gallacher since 2017. The couple share daughters Mabel, 6, and Peggy, 4, and are now expecting their third child.

Russell Brand Previously Reflected On Marriage To Katy Perry

Last month, Brand reflected on their marriage during an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge. "Some aspects of it were, like, amazing. She's an amazing person, and it was kind of incredible to live for a moment in that eye of the cyclone-type aspect of fame," he said, adding, "Aside from my sort of feelings of affection for Katy, it's a time that I remember being a little bit chaotic and a bit, for me, to speak for myself, a little disconnected."

Back in October 2017, during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Brand described their relationship as "a very, very wonderful time," adding, "She was lovely. She’s such a lovely person I’ve got nothing but love for her."

Just one month previously, he told Grazia: "I’m willing and open for reconciliation, any kind. Because if we can’t overcome our relatively trivial personal disputes in this world, what hope is there for us? It was a very important and lovely time in my life. I don’t regret being married to Katy at all. I have very positive feelings about that whole experience and Katy is an extraordinary woman.''
