James Gandolfini, known for his outstanding reputation in Hollywood and iconic performances in projects like The Sopranos and Enough Saidpassed away a decade ago today.

On the 10th anniversary of his death, which fell on Monday, June 19, fans around the world took to social media to remember the award-winning actor and his impressive legacy.

A fan whose Twitter account is still dedicated to Gandolfini's Sopranos character, Tony Soprano, tweeted, "10 years ago today james gandolfini died at age 51, just a kid RIP big man."

Another fan shared their favorite quote about Gandolfini, shared by his former Sopranos co-star Edie Falco.

A third noted their amazement that it has already been 10 years since his death, writing, "Feels like yesterday, but we lost the legendary James Gandolfini on this date 10 years ago. RIP."

Another thanked the late star for being "the greatest actor to ever do it," noting that his presence in the industry is still missed today.

Discussing the late actor's impressive career, someone else wrote, "Thinking about the great James Gandolfini on the 10 year anniversary of his passing. He gave a performance that completely redefined TV and cemented him as an all time great, and he still continued to do interesting film work with directors like Spike Jonze, Nicole Holofcener and...Andrew Dominik in the six years after The Sopranos ended. Always challenging himself as an actor, always doing something interesting. I find myself thinking about his final scene in David Chase's film Not Fade Away today."

Many shared how they were greatly impacted by Gandolfini's work, especially The Sopranos, with both the show and the actor's performance still frequently praised now, long after the show finished airing.

One fan posted a montage from the show and added, "10 years ago today James Gandolfini passed away. Tony Soprano means the world to me & wouldn’t be half as impactful without Gandolfini’s performance, truly the greatest to ever do it for me. Rest in peace to a legend."

Alongside the fans, friends and fellow creatives who worked with Gandolfini throughout his career spoke with Vanity Fair about the man ahead of the anniversary of his death.

The group included Falco, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tony Danza, Julianna Margulies, and more.

Louis-Dreyfus, who co-starred with Gandolfini in one of his last projects, said of the actor: "He was a very tenderhearted, thoughtful man...I wish he was still alive. I miss that guy."

One of Gandolfini's many Sopranos co-stars who praised him in the article, Margulies described acting with him, saying, "It’s like tennis—when you play with a better player, your game improves. It’s just how it is; you just play better. You don’t have to hit the ball very hard because they’re hitting it so hard. All you have to do is put your racket out."

At the time of his death, Gandolfini was married to his wife of almost five years, Deborah Lin. The two share a daughter named Liliana and Lin is stepmother to the late actor's son Michael Gandolfini, who he welcomed with film producer Marcy Wudarski in 1999.
