Legendary singer Tony Bennett died on July 21 at 96 years old, and reactions from fans and celebrities alike prove just how beloved the icon was.

Country stars such as Tim McGraw and Reba McEntire shared their sadness over his death. Carrie Underwood took to Instagram to post a tribute for the late "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" singer, whom she had the honor of sharing the stage with at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Bennett himself acquired a whopping 20 Grammy Awards over the course of his career of more than 70 years.

"Rest in peace, Tony. You were the epitome of a gentleman with a God given one-of-a-kind voice. It was truly a great honor of my career and of my life to get to share the stage with you…," Underwood wrote on her Instagram post.

Underwood shared photos from the numerous times they have worked together including presenting together at the Grammys (2012), performing on the TV show Blue Bloods (2011), and attending AARP's Drive To End Hunger Benefit Concert (2011) and the Sinatra 100: An All-Star Grammy Concert (2015). Fans expressed their love for both Underwood and Bennett in the comments saying, "That's a lot of class and talent in one picture. RIP Tony. 🙏❤️" and "A legend. Glad that the two of you were able to share the stage."

Bennett's publicist announced his passing on Instagram saying, "Tony left us today but he was still singing the other day at his piano and his last song was, ‘Because of You,’ his first #1 hit. Tony, because of you we have your songs in our hearts forever." His death comes after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's disease, though this did not stop him from continuing to perform and make music.
