Fans Are Not Happy With the 'Survivor: Edge of Extinction' Finale
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Survivor: Edge of Extinction. If you don't want to know what happened during the finale, stop reading now!
Survivor has had some controversial winners (anyone remember Fabio?), but last night's finale of Survivor: Edge of Extinction might just take the cake. Chris Underwood was named Sole Survivor, after being in the game for just 12 measly days. Chris was voted out of the game on episode three and spent the majority of the season on Extinction Island before winning a challenge to re-enter the game.
Fans of the show are now debating his win online.
#Survivor it was a great twist and an entertaining season, but let’s not do the edge of extinction again.

things Chris did not experience on his path to winning a #Survivor season:
- any tribe swap
- the merge / merge feast
- loved ones visit- Matt (@mattliguori) May 16, 2019
Although I respect Chris’s game and how he played with the days he was given, I feel that it was too little, too late and Gavin deserves the win #Survivor

Fans are also hilariously comparing Survivor to last week's episode of Game of Thrones.
#GameofThrones is officially off the hook. #Survivor

Some former players have also thrown in their two cents.
Stephen Fishbach explained his view in a series of tweets, saying that while he likes this season's twist, Survivor is a challenge where you have to "vote someone out in such a way that they'll vote for you to win. Chris never had to deal with that."
This #Survivor season is totally bonkers and I absolutely love it. Yes, it's not 'classic' Survivor, it's not the same game about grinding out a social strategy for 39 days - it's Calvinball on an island. I'd hate to play it, but love to watch. https://t.co/iV3yFCBmyJ

#survivor The guy who was voted out against the guy who never got a vote.
Also Julie!- Stephen Fishbach (@stephenfishbach) May 16, 2019
THE signature challenge of #Survivor is - how do you vote someone out in such a way that they'll vote for you to win.
Chris never had to deal with that.- Stephen Fishbach (@stephenfishbach) May 16, 2019
#survivor
Whatever happens, Chris played his heart out for these 3 days. I'm almost rooting for him.
Almost.

Corinne and Eliza, who were also contestants on the current season of The Amazing Race, seemed disappointed with the outcome, with Corinne calling the season "Edge of Absurd."
Since there was no #AmazingRace this wk and we can all agree that #Survivor should’ve been called Edge of Absurd....how bout ya check out @dailyblastlive’s Fully Clothed and Afraid? Yours truly hosted it and it airs today! @jeffschroeder23 @SamSchacher @toryshulman @aljackson pic.twitter.com/64doaApdIV

I’m heartbroken. I don’t care what anyone else says, Devens was the star of the season. I’m so disappointed with this lackluster final three. Is it time to switch over to #thechallenge? #survivor

Brian Corridan blamed the season's theme, and not Chris himself.
I’m the first to say I didn’t enjoy #Survivor but PLEASE don’t trash Chris’s win as illegitimate. He played-and won-within the constructs of the season. It’s the theme (and the abundance of idols) that was ill-conceived and antithetical to this game. I hope to never see it again.

And Chrissy Hofbeck didn't mince words at all.
I just finished watching the show formerly known as #Survivor. That's all.

Since fans are so disappointed with the outcome, it'll be interesting to see if Survivor will ever do anything like the Edge of Extinction twist again. However, season 39 of the CBS show is going for a totally new theme, complete with two former winners in the role of "advisors"-say hello to Island of the Idols.
