Fans Are Mourning After K-Pop Star Goo Hara Was Found Dead in Her Home

K-pop fans are mourning after singer Goo Hara was recently found dead inside her home in Seoul. The 28-year-old, who was more commonly known as Hara, was once part of the South Korean girl group Kara, now disbanded. In July 2015, Goo made her debut as a solo artist with her EP Alohara (Can You Feel It?). An investigation to her determine the cause of her death is underway. Goo's agency announced her passing in a statement and asked that people refrain from spreading rumors.

"We are here to deliver tragic and unfortunate news. Family members and friends of Goo Hara are deeply shocked and anxious at the moment. Therefore, we earnestly ask that media outlets and their related personnel, as well as the fans’ condolence calls, refrain from spreading rumors or speculative reports," the statement read.

Just a few months ago, back in May, Goo was found unconscious in her home after she had posted the word, "Goodbye" on her Instagram, according to CNN. Goo was taken to the hospital and eventually recovered. "I'm recovering. Many things overlapped and I had been suffering. But I'll steel myself and work to show you my healthy self," she told an outlet at the time, according to CNN. Goo also revealed that she undergoing a battle with depression.

Goo had also been involved in a public dispute with her ex Choi Jong-bum, who she accused of trying to blackmail her by threatening the release of a sex tape. Though Choi denied the allegations, he was eventually found guilty of blackmail and assault. After the incident, Goo was publicly outspoken about the dangers of online bullying.

Fans have been posting tributes to the late singer on Twitter.

Korean rapper Dindin also posted a tribute, revealing that Goo had asked him to reach over if he was ever in trouble. "But I haven't done anything for you and I haven't been a help ... I'm very sorry," he wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm so angry and hate this world. I wish you happiness where you are."
