Let's rewind to 2005. The Office debuted on NBC, Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" is dominating the radio, and everyone's glued to their TV to see who will win the fourth season of American Idol. Despite a season full of talent, a young girl from Oklahoma is crowned the champion and later becomes one of the most successful artists in country music.

Shortly after winning American Idol, Carrie Underwood made her Opry debut just two weeks later on June 10, 2005. Now, almost exactly 17 years later, as the country artist with the most CMT Awards, 7 Grammy awards, and millions of album sales, Carrie returned to the iconic stage in Nashville ahead of the release of her upcoming album. The "Ghost Story" singer shared snapshots from the special night with a humble caption that read, "It’s always an honor to play the @opry ! Thanks to all who came out to see us all do what we love in such a sacred place! ❤️❤️❤️".

After being invited to join the Opry by the legendary Randy Travis, Carrie has since graced country music's sacred stage hundreds of times. Most recently, she held her annual fan club party and later performed never-before-heard songs from her new album Denim & Rhinestones.

The "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer took to the stage in a beautiful one shoulder, floor length gown adorned with floral print. It's a stark change from her bright, bedazzled looks she rocked during her Las Vegas residency, but we can all agree that she looks amazing every time she hits the stage.

Fans flocked to the comment section of her post to share their messages like:

  • "Loved seeing you back at the Opry!! 'She Don’t Know' is so fun! ❤️❤️"

  • "Always so beautifully dressed 💜"

  • "You were absolutely amazing tonight Carrie! I’m so glad I could be there to support you! ❤️👏🏻"

  • "queen of the opry 👑🌟"

Carrie wasn't the only one performing. A fan who attended the show shared this fun video of her two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, having a party of their own while watching their mom perform.
