At 51, Jennifer Garner Posts Bare-Faced Swimsuit Selfies and Fans Lose It

It’s pool season, and Jennifer Garner is showing up with the best of swimsuit selfies to mark the occasion. In a new post, the actress shared a series of poolside pictures in which she wore a variety of swimwear and one staple accessory: goggles.

In the carousel’s first clip, wearing a red one-shouldered swimsuit, Garner blows a few bubbles, emerging from the water, her hair slicked back from her swim. She uses the pool ledge to pull herself up and announce, “Happy Summer!” before going back underwater. In the other photos, Garner wears a black wetsuit, a navy one-piece, and a wide grin.

Fans and followers were uplifted by the playful post. “Goggles on point!” one person commented. “I just love how you don’t take yourself too seriously,” another added. Someone else pointed out her toned physique in the first clip, writing: “Your shoulders are fire! 💪🏼♥️✨”

Garner clearly loves leaning into her silly side, but at 51, she’s serious about prioritizing fitness. As she occasionally documents on Instagram, the star and her trainer, Beth Nicely, sweat it out regularly with cardio dance, strength training, and plyometric box jump workouts, which are characterized by “quick, powerful movement involving a system of reactive exercises” like side jumps and hops, per the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

In an April interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Garner said working out is her morning ritual for a good day. She added that, specifically, starting every day with hard cardio keeps both her body and mind in shape. “We need it in our bodies, but we need it in our brains. Your brain needs it!” she told Barrymore. And her tip for being consistent? “You find something that actually makes you feel joyful while you’re doing it or it won’t work,” she said.

As evidenced by her cheery expression in all of her workout clips, Garner enjoys movement with some intensity. “[Garner] likes to work really hard, she’s very, very strong,” Nicely told Shape last year. “I consider her a professional athlete in what she’s capable of physically.”
