Joe Keery and Taylor Swift have some explaining to do.

The Stranger Things star caused an uproar on Twitter after photos of him leaving a presumed studio session with the 33-year-old pop star in New York City went viral on the social media platform late Monday night and well into the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 27.

Fans of the actor let their excitement and confusion run amuck, tweeting questions like "JOE KEERY ELECTRIC LADY STUDIO HELLO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN" and other relatable commentary alongside the snaps: "Joe Keery seen leaving Electric Lady on the same day as Taylor Swift, nobody speak to me."

Many references to the show were also made, with one viral tweet reading, "First Sadie [Sink] now joe keery, she wants to defeat vecna so bad."

"i never thought i’d be beefing with swifties over joe keery GET A JOB STAY AWAY FROM HIM," another wrote, alongside an out-of-context clip from the Netflix original starring the 31-year-old Massachusetts-born actor.

The memes didn't stop there, as fans didn't know what to make of the paparazzi photos.

"Trying to move on with my day like I haven’t seen rumors that Joe Keery was leaving a Taylor Swift studio session," another wrote alongside a clip of Adele minding her business.

"I LITERALLY MANIFESTED TAYLOR SWIFT AND JOE KEERY WITH THIS," someone else joked, sharing a video they took of a photo of the actor as Swift performs in the background.

"joe keery being perceived by swifties...." a third added next to a clip from Jennifer Lawrence's appearance on the talk show Hot Ones.

While neither musician has commented on the photos, fans are hopeful that they'll address it soon and that it has something to do with Speak Now: Taylor's Version–but once they do, Parade will be the first to bring you the news, just like we did for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
