On Instagram, some fans have been analyzing older photos from her earlier career days, and debating whether or not the 30-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress underwent the trendy ‘fox eye’ surgery recently (many have linked this procedure to Bella Hadid on TikTok).

Others are stressing that a new makeup style and the effects of lupus might be leading to the Rare Beauty mogul’s slightly different and more sculpted appearance, but many are still divided. This all began in the comment section of a new post under the popular Instagram account @plasticne this week (where fans often compare photos of celebrities that might have gone under the knife).

On May 3rd, account @plasticne posted a side-by-side comparison shot of Gomez in 2016 and then a more modern pic from her red carpet look at the 2023 Golden Globes. While she looks undeniably gorgeous in both images, some fans noted in the comment section that they thought she looked like she “got fox eye surgery” within the past seven years. Others stressed that they “didn’t think she got anything done” at all, and that the pictures themselves were photoshopped, making any comparisons inaccurate to begin with.

“I see no plastic here,” one fan wrote, adding, “I see age, weight gain, and steroid side effects. None of these are anything to be hated on or called out for! All very natural and realistic parts of being human!” Someone else commented, “Love how people still try and tear a beautiful woman down,” as another stressed for the creator of the post to “normalize natural aging,” and not assume that Gomez got plastic surgery.

On March 13th, the “Lose You To Love Me” hitmaker shared a gorgeous bare-faced selfie post and stunned with her radiant, all-natural and glowing complexion. The Wizards of Waverly Place alum posed in front of a window with sunlight rays emphasizing her dewy skin and wavy, shiny brunette tresses.

The “My Mind & Me” singer uploaded two photos of herself in the sunny setting, and wrote in her caption, “Violet chemistry.” This, as fans know, refers to the song by her friend Miley Cyrus of the same name off her new record, Endless Summer Vacation.  This post followed a string of au naturel pics that Gomez blessed her fans feeds with, and they (and we) can never get enough!

Naturally, Gomez’s post racked up millions of likes and thousands of comments from fans who hyped up her natural beauty and her support for her former Disney Channel co-star Cyrus. “Effortlessly gorgeous,” one fan wrote as another added, “always so beautiful Selena!” Someone else chimed in, “great song from Miley” as others conveyed their (and our) thoughts on Gomez’s post with heart-eyes, red hearts and fire emojis.
