Dylan Dreyer’s heart is full. The Today show weather anchor and her husband, Brian Fichera, are now officially a family of five with the arrival of their son, Rusty.

Formally named Russell James Fichera, Dylan and Brian’s third son was born six weeks early on October 2 at New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. After being in the care of doctors and nurses in the NICU for several days, Brian posted an Instagram photo on October 7 showing him and Dylan bringing Rusty home.

“He’s coming home!” he captioned an emotional car selfie. “Driving home 13 inches an hour on the FDR with fish swimming in my eyes like I just watched the end of Forrest Gump, My Girl and ET combined. #welcomehomerusty.”

A short while later, the 40-year-old NBC News meteorologist posted their first family photo on Instagram. In the heartwarming pic, Brian holds Rusty while Dylan has their family dog, Bosco, on her lap. The married couple of nine years are surrounded by their two sons — Calvin Bradley, 4, and Oliver George, 1. Together, everyone smiles for the camera.

“Man it feels real good to be home together!!!” she wrote alongside the snap.

After seeing Dylan be reunited with Rusty and the family giving him an incredibly warm welcome, the Today show star’s fans celebrated the special moment with her in the comments section.

“❤️ Happy to hear Rusty is doing well and finally home with you all!” one person wrote. “Aww…. What a beautiful photo!! So happy for all of you 💙💙💙!!” another added. “Love all the joy and chaos here ❤️ congrats!” a different fan said. “Yay I’m so happy that Rusty is out of the NICU. Hope Cal and Ollie are enjoying their baby brother,” a follower commented. “So blessed! Happy for you and your family! ❤️,” someone else chimed in.

Before their first day together as a family at home was over, Dylan cheered on Rusty for becoming strong enough to leave the hospital so quickly. “Our little NICU graduate! #welcomehomerusty,” she captioned pics of him sleeping with a tiny blue graduation cap.

Like other love stories, these family moments were years in the making. Dylan and Brian first crossed paths at work: She was in front of the cameras as an anchor and meteorologist and he was behind the scenes as an in-studio technician. Since tying the knot nearly a decade ago, in October 2012, the couple has been open about the fertility struggles they encountered after having their first child. But today, with the help of doctors, the pair couldn’t be happier to have the family they’ve always wanted.

“When we first got married, we thought maybe one day we’d have kids,” Dylan said on the NBC morning show. “But then we became obsessed with them….You just realize they’re the best things in the world.”
